Unlike SW4-II which allows you to bring a partner into any level, with DW8 you pick one guy at the start and you can only use them. Each character in DW8 has three Musou attacks triggered by activating it on the ground, in the air, or while holding a specific button. So if you want to mow down troops by the hundreds, you gotta use your standard combos.
